Tampa Bay, Florida

Officiant & Ceremony

In Tampa Bay: Two officiants are listed for this region, one in Tampa and one in Bradenton, and the reason that number is small is worth understanding rather than apologizing for. Florida lets any notary public solemnize a marriage, alongside ordained clergy, judicial officers including retired ones, and clerks of the circuit courts. Notaries are everywhere in Tampa Bay, and almost none of them advertise as wedding vendors, so most of the people who can legally marry you here sit outside a wedding directory entirely. Below the two listings is a clearly labeled block of congregations, which is the other place this work gets done locally. No registration is required before performing: Hillsborough states that the officiant does not register first, and the list Pasco keeps is voluntary rather than a licensing step. Whether online ordination is accepted is not something Hillsborough will opine on, so if you are bringing a friend, settle it with them and with the clerk before you fix anything else. Whoever signs must return the completed certificate to the issuing clerk within ten days. This line runs roughly $200 to $850.

Churches and congregations

These are places of worship rather than for-hire officiants. Many will marry members of their own congregation, or couples willing to join and complete a marriage preparation course, and some will not marry non-members at all. Several also price the building, the clergy and the musician separately. Ask early what they require of you — policy varies widely between denominations, and between individual congregations of the same denomination.
