Savannah, Georgia

Officiant & Ceremony

In Savannah: Start with the license, because this process will not be rushed. Both applicants must appear at the Chatham County Probate Court, Room 509 of the Coleman Courthouse at 133 Montgomery Street, and the application is online first and then by appointment. You cannot walk in, and that is the detail that wrecks a compressed timeline. The license is $76, or $36 with a certificate of completion from a qualifying premarital education program of at least six hours — a $40 saving most couples never hear about. Georgia has no waiting period and requires no blood test. Georgia recognizes ministers and clergy of any religion, judges and magistrates. Whether an online ordination is accepted is not uniform, and this annex will not guess: confirm it with the Probate Court before you book anyone. The entries here are largely congregations, in a labeled block.

Churches and congregations

These are places of worship rather than for-hire officiants. Many will marry members of their own congregation, or couples willing to join and complete a marriage preparation course, and some will not marry non-members at all. Several also price the building, the clergy and the musician separately. Ask early what they require of you — policy varies widely between denominations, and between individual congregations of the same denomination.

Details change constantly — confirm directly before booking. Something wrong? Update or remove a listing.
