In Savannah: Seven studios are listed, which is a real market but a shallow one, and the calendar goes first here. Savannah's appeal to a photographer is also its difficulty: the squares are deep shade under live oaks and Spanish moss with hard bright gaps between them, and a midday ceremony in that light is a harder job than an open lawn. Early morning and the hour before sunset are worth planning the day around, and from June through August they are worth it for the heat as much as for the light. Ask whether portraits in a square need the same permit the ceremony does, because a small group with no setup is treated differently from one with chairs and an arch. Budget $3,300 to $10,000, and confirm coverage hours, second shooter and turnaround in writing.
