In Savannah: Savannah gives you a choice most cities cannot: a historic square, a Lowcountry property across the river, or a beach. The squares are the reason people come, and they carry the strictest rules in this annex. A permit is required for any setup at all — chairs, an arch, an aisle runner, a tent — while a gathering under fifty guests with nothing set up needs no permit and takes its chances first-come, first-served. Expect a $25 application, then $350 for four hours as a resident, $575 or $725 as a non-resident depending on season, $60 an hour beyond four, and an off-duty police officer hired for the duration. Applications open exactly one year ahead, at 12:01am on the anniversary of your date. Set an alarm. The city may also permit a second, non-overlapping event in the same square that day.
