Chicago, Illinois

Photography & Videography

In Chicago: Daylight is the local variable. Winter compresses the outdoor window here, and a late-autumn or winter ceremony can run out of usable light before the reception starts, so build the portrait block around the light rather than around the schedule. On the lakefront, wind is the other one: the shore is materially colder and windier than an inland site on the same day, and it shows in hair, veils and how long anyone will stand still. The Chicago Park District permits lakefront and city park ceremonies, but it does not book Millennium Park, Lincoln Park Zoo, Maggie Daley Park, the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool or Olive Park; those are approached directly, so confirm access before anyone builds a route around them. Listed photographers sit in the city, Wheaton, Naperville and Lisle, so a downtown ceremony with a suburban getting-ready room needs travel written into the coverage hours.
