New York City, New York

Photography & Videography

In New York City: Twelve photography and video businesses are listed, five in Manhattan, two in Queens and one each in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Ridgewood, Manhasset and Harrison. The backdrops couples ask for first are permitted, not public. A NYC Parks Special Events permit is required once 20 or more people will attend, carries a $25 non-refundable application fee, and the city quotes 21 to 30 days to process it. The Conservatory Garden in Central Park cannot be booked through that permit at all; the city directs couples to the Central Park Conservancy instead. In Prospect Park, Wellhouse Drive, Vanderbilt Oval, Parkside Lawn, Lincoln Road Lawn and the Nethermead are permanently unpermittable and intended for groups of 20 people or fewer, and the park issues no permits on major holidays, holiday weekends or Mondays. Battery Park City is a separate New York State authority running its own permits, written explicitly to cover wedding ceremonies and wedding photography. Decide which stops are worth the travel and give each one its own block in the timeline rather than assuming it fits in the gaps. The range runs $4,200 to $15,000.
