Order eight to twelve months out on gowns; alterations take several fittings across weeks, and salons across the state book those weeks tight in April, May and June. Budget deliberately for the tailoring the sticker price never includes, and for weather posture -- a July ceremony on the water in Newport and a mid-October leaf-peeping ceremony in the Blackstone Valley are two different fabrics and two different linings. If your ceremony is a beach walk along the South County coast, ask about hem finishing and sand tolerance before you commit to a train.
