Stationery & Invitations

In Charleston: Assume a good share of your guest list is flying, and move everything earlier. Save-the-dates for a Charleston wedding go out eight to twelve months ahead rather than six, because guests are booking flights, a hotel block and time off rather than a Saturday. Build a wedding website and put the practical answers on it — which airport, how far the venue is from downtown, parking, whether they need a car for a sea-island site — or you will answer those questions individually for a year. The local supply is weighted toward commercial print shops rather than dedicated stationers, which is genuinely useful for programs, menus, signage and place cards, and worth knowing before you assume one vendor will do the whole suite.

Bringing your own design to a commercial printer

These are commercial and trade printers, not wedding stationers. None of them designs an invitation suite, and none of them lists weddings as work they do — they are here because they will print a design you already own, usually well and usually for a fraction of a stationer's price. That makes them a real option if you have bought a template, hired a designer separately, or are printing menus, programs, table numbers and signage rather than the invitations themselves. Send a PDF and ask for a paper sample first: weight, finish and color vary far more between printers than price does.
