Dallas & Fort Worth, Texas

Mobile Bar / Servers

In Dallas & Fort Worth: This region turned up four bar services, plus one labeled alternative beneath them that is a retail liquor store rather than a bar company - so if those four are booked, the pour falls to your venue or your caterer. What is genuinely local is where Texas draws the line between hospitality and a sale. A wedding reception with free drinks needs no permit at all, and the state's own condition is that to be truly free it must be available to any adult who asks for it, not only to paying guests. A cash bar is a sale and needs a permit; so is a per-head drinks charge folded into a ticket price. BYOB is legal at an unlicensed barn or hall and illegal on the premises of a mixed beverage or private club permit holder, so the venue's permit decides again. If you are buying your own, note the package store hours: Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 9 pm, closed Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Buying the beer, wine and spirits yourself

These are retail sources, not event services — nobody here staffs your bar. Where your venue allows it, buying the alcohol yourself and hiring a licensed bartender to serve it is usually the cheapest way to do this line. The rules vary by state, by county and by venue, so confirm what yours permits — and whether your setup needs its own permit — before you count on the saving.
